At the beginning of the twentieth century, the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung created from his clinical studies a typology of personas, which he published in 1921 in his book Psychological types (translated from German). He identified eight universal functional modes and he travelled across the world to validate their universality – no matter where you were born or which culture you belong to, these eight functions do exist in every single individual.
